Following the construction of new homes at Mont Fleuri, where there were already many schools, the Diocese set up the Good Shepherd parish in1964.
The construction of the church was done by Brother Cyrille with his team of Seychellois workers. The church was consecrated on 15th August 1964 by Father Angelin, Vicar General. The church was freshened up to celebrate its 50 years in existence.
The statue at the side of the church which was blessed in October 1991 by the parish priest, Father Fitzgerald, is a gift of the Meghjee family.
