On 6th April 1883, Bishop Symphorien Mouard, Apostolic Vicar, blessed the Beauvoir chapel – started by Bishop Ignace Galfione – and opened it to the Seychellois people as a pilgrimage site. He also blessed a bell and the cemetery reserved for missionaries.

The actual chapel was rebuilt under the episcopate of Bishop Clark. Later, Brother Victor added the transepts. Since 13th November 2014, La Misère has been established as parish, administered by Capuchin priests who have just moved to their new convent.

Since 1888, the Sisters of Cluny have a holiday house, built on a site given by Bishop Mouard. Following an agreement made with the Cluny community, it houses inmates from CAR (‘Centre d’accueil de La Rosière’).

On 29th March 2009, Bishop Wiehe blessed ‘La Maison des Muscades’ which is used as a meeting place that can receive more than 40 people. It is managed by the Chemin Neuf community, together with Beauvoir, the old Capuchin holiday house.
