In 1882, Father Edmond Dardel built a chapel on a site given to the Mission by Mrs Charles Button. It was blessed by Bishop Symphorien Mouard on 5th February 1883. The parish of Cascade was set up.
Until 1898, the priest came from Victoria or Anse-aux-Pins
by sea.
In May 1905, Father Adrien began the construction of a stone church. After his death, Father Jérémie finished the church that Bishop Hudrisier consecrated on 15th March 1913.
During the First World War, Father Hilaire, parish priest from Anse aux Pins, or a priest from Victoria served the parish.
In July 1921, Father Jérémie returned to Cascade where he stayed for 17 more years, building a new priest’s house (1923), a new school (1925) and endowed the church with a high altar. He returned in 1946 for 9 months.
