The parish was founded in 1853. Father Léon des Avanchers was
already coming to celebrate mass in 1851. A first church, made of stone,
dating from 1872, was blessed on 10th February 1874 by Father Ignace Galfione. Father Théophane started extension works, blessed by Bishop Justin Gumy on 17th January 1929.
After some renovations, notably by Father Léon Mauron, a new church was
built and consecrated on 29th September 2013 by Bishop Wiehe, in the presence of the Apostolic Nuncio, Bishop Eugene Nugent and Father Lonnie, the parish priest.
In 1930, Father Théophane built a school out of stone. The one built by the
government opened at the beginning of the 21st century.
Since 1889, the Sisters of Cluny were involved in education until 1944, then
from 1960, to depart definitely in 1977.
